Smile: Huawei GR3 4G tests

We put in a Smile SIM and though it took a while, eventually the phone latched on to the network. With the settings in place, voilà! We were browsing in no time. Note that we could only use it in data-only mode. No voice.

Ntel: Huawei GR3 4G tests

With the SIM in, the GR3 soon latched on, and we were using the internet in no time. Again, this was data-only usage. We were unable to place a voice call over LTE.

MTN: Huawei GR3 4G tests

Putting in an MTN 4G SIM card in the GR3 gave us instant access to the MTN 4G LTE network. Note though that the Huawei GR3 does not have a 4G Only network mode, so it cycles between 4G, 3G and 2G, depending on the strengths of those networks. Among the 4G phones that we have tested till date, the Huawei GR3 is the best performer in terms of latching to and holding on to a network signal, especially in fringe areas.
