Users can now test out this feature by downloading the 0.7 beta or any newer version of the app from Microsoft’s App Center. The rollout to stable version is expected to take a few weeks. Also, users who sign up to test this beta version can only make video calls to other people on their contact lists with the version 0.7 beta installed on their devices.
As per a report from Android Police, the app is still a bit buggy but maintains the same features that other apps with video call support possess. It has an on-screen button to toggle between front and back cameras, mute, hang up, turn on/off video buttons. As at the time of this report, there is no provision for group calls yet, but it is expected that a more refined version of this app could house this feature. Telegram has offered support for voice calls for about four years, and with a video call option already in the works, it will be interesting to see how the final version of this app serves users.
